The Power of Article Marketing

Article marketing is growing in popularity these days as more website owners and Internet entrepreneurs continue seeking the very best opportunities for online marketing.  The proliferation of websites and growing popularity of search engines like Google.com have created a kind of “new game” in the online business world.  And, as we all know, new games always require new rules.

This post is called “The Power of Article Marketing” because I want to quickly point to some of the major advantages of using articles to market your website.  Of course, article writing and distribution is nothing new.  The difference today is new websites have to work much harder to rise to the surface of search engine rankings.  Perhaps a handful of years ago new websites could publish quality content and rank solely based on the “low-hanging fruit” of the long tail.

Today, the situation is much different.  Instead of using just their own website to publish content, most web marketers must also turn to existing websites and directories with well established Google PageRank and a strong reputation among the search engines.  If Google favors EzineArticles.com content, for example, then you stand to benefit from a relationship with that article directory by submitting your own keyword targeted content.

Essentially, good content helps build trust.  In days past, it may have sufficed to have a website with good content to establish a high degree of trust.  Now, you must prove yourself to a new website visitor and potential customer through a series of trust-building steps.

Step 1 - User searches with the Google website.
(TRUST = Google’s reputation)

Step 2 - User finds one of your quality articles.
(TRUST = Google’s approval)

Step 3 - User reads the article and clicks to your site.
(TRUST = Your quality content)

Step 4 - User finds related materials on your site.
(TRUST = Your website)

Step 5 - User takes action, buys, joins, etc.
(TRUST = You)

This is a much more complicated equation, but it’s a reality in an era where information is widely available online and the competition is stiff.  I hope you begin to see just how powerful regular article writing efforts can be for the future of your online business!

    The only issue I noticed is that search engine are taking a bit longer to recognize new content from newer sources compared to established sources so I agree that submitting to popular ezines is an excellent idea.
